Introducing Papé Fleet Services
Oct 04, 2018 Best PracticesIn a nutshell, it enables good business decisions. We take the information — or data — analyze it and make it easily accessible for the customer. This allows companies to maintain their fleet without the added cost of a full-time individual performing the tedious and time-consuming task of conducting fleet management.
Companies, by their very nature, need to optimize efficiency, minimize cost of operation, and increase uptime in order to be competitive in today’s market.
When a business doesn’t have sound practices, processes, and procedures in place to manage their fleet, it is impossible to be efficient. They hemorrhage money as their inefficiencies go unchecked and open themselves up to unnecessary risk.
There are many benefits to fleet management. From increased efficiencies to transparency, proper fleet management results in lower cost of ownership, increased accountability, and an increased ability to mitigate risk. It provides control over the cyclical costs of operation and enables accurate forecasting. Decisions are no longer “gut checks” but sound business decisions based on metrics that matter.
We conduct reviews with our customers that help enable these business decisions.
One particular case in point, a customer with another management service was spending anywhere from $80-120k dollars per month on their fleet. We conducted a review, where we took the customer’s information, analyzed it, and looked for ways to improve. We made suggestions that, over the next few months, regulated or flattened their monthly maintenance spend, keeping them within a 10% variance month-to-month instead of a 100%. This customer increased their fleet size by almost 30% during this time, while decreasing their overall monthly maintenance and increasing their uptime.
One of the reasons we created Fleet Services was to increase transparency with our customers. At Papé, we’ve been very good at doing what we’ve promised over the many years. But now, with Fleet Services, the proof is in the pudding, or the portal in this case.
The Fleet Services Management portal is accessible to the customer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It allows a user to to see an up to date status of their fleet, contact Pape for repair, and assist with decision making through the analysis and drill down available. It works with any platform that has a web browser, meaning that you can access it through your computer, your tablet or your smart phone, either on the job or on the links.
